The classification of membrane structure construction is also related to this, so it can be divided into three types from the structure: frame supported structure, tension membrane structure and air domes.
1. Frame supported structure
The roof framework mainly made of steel or integrated materials, which has a tensile membrane structure above it, and the lower support structure has high stability. Because the roof is relatively simple in shape, the opening is not easy to be restricted, and the economic benefits are high, so it is widely suitable for any large or small-scale space.
2.Tension Suspension Structure
It is made up of membrane material, steel cable and struts, and uses steel cable and struts to introduce tension into the membrane material so as to achieve a fixed form. Apart from its creative, innovative and beautiful shape, it is also the structural form that can best display the spirit of membrane structure. In large span spaces, steel wire mesh consisting of steel wire and compressed material is often used to support the upper membrane material. Due to the high construction precision, strong structural performance and rich expressive force, the cost is slightly higher than that of the frame supported structure.
3.Air domes
The air domes is to fix the membrane material on the periphery of the roof structure. Using the air supply system to create pressure differ from inside and outside so that the roof can resist the external force. Because it uses air pressure to support the structure, and uses external cables to fix the membrane, so the internal has no beam nor column, and there will be more space. The construction is fast to build and the economic benefit is high, but it needs to maintain the 24-hour fan operation, so the cost of continuous operation and machine maintenance is high.
Each of the three architectural forms has its own merits. Different architectural structures have different aesthetic senses. Only the most suitable membrane structure is the best choice.
